A visit to Ottoni Fabbrica Italy
We are absolutely delighted to offer the plastic-free kettles from Ottoni Fabbrica in Wert&Voll . We’ve long wanted to visit their production facility in Gravellona Toce. Due to the COVID-19 situation, it took a while, but the time has finally come. We’d like to tell you about this visit and our partnership here.
Gravellona Toce is a town in northern Italy, near Lake Maggiore. I traveled by train from Bern via Brig to Domodossola and then took a bus for the last leg of the journey to Gravellona Toce. When I arrived at the factory, I was warmly welcomed by my contact, Gabriella. Even though we had already established a good business relationship online, nothing can replace personal contact. Gabriella showed me some of the milestones in the History from Ottoni Fabbrica, such as the kettles, which have been continuously refined into today’s electric kettles. But pots, pans, and bowls are also part of Ottoni’s product line. The company has been family-owned since its founding by Giovanni Ottoni in 1963 and is now run by Giovanni’s son, Andrea Ottoni. What unites them is a passion for high-quality stainless steel products. The highest quality and functionality have always been their goal.

After getting to know each other, I had the opportunity to tour the production facility together with Andrea Ottoni. It was very impressive to see that many of the processes are still carried out using traditional craftsmanship and with the utmost care. The traditional steps are complemented by state-of-the-art laser technology. Incidentally, Ottoni sources the steel for its products in Germany, as well as the high-quality heating element. The wooden components are manufactured directly in the region. Everything is then processed and assembled on-site at the Ottoni factory. I was able to see for myself that the regional sourcing of raw materials is firmly Ottoni Fabbrica in Ottoni Fabbrica philosophy.

It was very clear that all employees are fully committed to producing outstanding products. Sustainability and fairness play a major role for Ottoni, setting them apart from other manufacturers who outsource their production to Asia for cost reasons.
In the subsequent discussion with Andrea and two other brothers from the Ottoni family, we exchanged ideas about the possibilities of regional production of stainless steel products, such as lunch boxes. We are all aware that it is impossible to compete with Asian manufacturers on price. And yet we share the vision that quality and fairness, as well as local production, offer major advantages over production in Asia. Their kettles are proof of this.

We at Wert&Voll confident that we have found a long-term partner in Ottoni, and we very much hope to collaborate on the “Sustainable Stainless Steel Products, Made in Italy” project in the future. We will, of course, keep you updated on any developments!
Yours, Mika
